So, I went to Cabela's with my mother to buy some winter clothing for our Iditarod adventure. I had never been there before, and when I saw the mounted Alaskan moose on display, I had to snap a photo or two. It reminded me of the late, great Susan Butcher and her dog Granite. What an amazing and courageous woman she was! If you don't know her story....you should. A moose attacked her dogs during the Iditarod in 1985. She went on to win 4 times. Wow! Cancer took her life, but I love that Alaska celebrates "Susan Butcher Day" on the 1st Saturday of March each year. Totally deserving! She is such a great example for my students to persevere and work hard to accomplish your goals.

I'm surprised that her dogs got attacked by a moose. How many dogs died in the attack?

That is one of the weirdest thing ever. Who would bump into a moose riding a dog sled hitting it with who knows what and still stay on track still after all of that weirdness.

Is the moose real? As in is the fur real and the head real and the rest is stuffed with stuffing
